I got to fulfill one of my long held personal goals of hiking Mt Rwenzori. I had the pleasure of achieving this goal with the company of two gentlemen, Gerard Iga and Christopher D’Ambrosio. I had always wanted to do the Mt Rwenzori experience but kept missing it because the most obvious option under Mountain Slayers always scheduled Mt Rwenzori hikes in June and December which are not feasible for me because of the June and December tax filing season. Other groups that I had joined always fell apart because most people cancel. You know how organizing trips is; lots of people show interest at the beginning and then only one or two of you finally confirm but then you don’t have the numbers to make the trip. A note of appreciation to Paul Lumala of Summit Fever Expeditions who organized this trip. They do a great job organizing hikes. Paul had a client from the US who was going to do as many peaks as possible on Mt Rwenzori. He told me about it and that’s how I fell in. The opportunity to fulfill my dream had come alive. I was briefed about the gear and even supported in purchasing the right gear. I received an expected itinerary for our whole trip including what to expect. This information gives clarity and eases any nerves you may have. The services providers (transport van and guides) had been well chosen and this gave an exceptional experience.
